Description: This is a drawing of the flag of the Republic of Madawaska displaying the eagle surrounded by six stars representing the founding peoples. The original idea was introduced by Mr. B. Fernand Nadeau, mayor of Edmundston. The drawing was done by Mr. Bob Benn. It comes from the description of a flag done by Sophie Baker and hoisted in Baker-Brook July 4, 1927, which resulted in the incarceration of John Baker and proceedings in Fredericton. A question was leveled at Mayor B. Fernand Nadeau regarding the stars, caught unaware, he said that they represented the six founding peoples: Scottish, Irish, English, French, Acadian and Native.
